Yatra-Mathura :-The Krishna Janm Bhumi

 Brij bhoomi, Mathura is famous as the birthplace of Lord Krishna, it is a famous pilgrimage of Hindus and one of the famous pilgrimage centers of India.  The main pilgrimage center in Mathura is Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple, Vrindavan Temple, Govardhan Parvat etc.

 The birthplace of Lord Krishna is the main attraction of Mathura and an important pilgrimage place for Hindus.  According to legend, Lord Krishna was born in a small prison room, where his parents were taken captive by the tyrannical ruler Kansa.

 The Archaeological Museum of Mathura is an important place.  It has an excellent collection of ancient sculptures of art.  The Vishram Ghat, built on the Yamuna River, is another place to visit in Mathura.  It is said that Lord Krishna killed the tyrant Kansa here.

 Kansa Fort, Sati Burj and Dwarkadhish Temple are other places in Mathura.

 The origin of Mathura is ancient.  Lord Krishna is a popular avatar of Lord Vishnu.  Mathura and its surrounding area including Vrindavan are associated with Lord Krishna's childhood.  It is mentioned in the epic Mahabharata.

 Vrindavan is 10 - 12 km from Mathura.  Vrindavan is also famous for its temples.  The number of temples in Vrindavan is also around 4000.  The main temples are Banke Bihari Temple, Radha Ballabh Temple, Nidhi Van Temple, Govind Dev Temple, Rang Mandir, Madan Mohan Temple, Pagal Baba Temple.  Gokul village is about 16 km from Mathura.  It is said that this was the upbringing of Lord Krishna.  Mahaban is about 18 km from Mathura.  Barsana is believed to be 50 km northwest of Mathura, the birthplace of Radha.  The Holi festival of Barsana is amazing.  Lathmar Holi is famous in Nandgaon, Barsana.  Govardhan is 25 km west of Mathura.  Legend has it that Lord Krishna saved the villagers from the wrath of Indra, the god of rain, by lifting the Govardhan mountain on one finger.

 Govardhan Parvat is considered a sacred site as it is famous for many legends related to the life of Lord Krishna.  Krishna and his brother Balaram are believed to have spent most of their time here.

 The personality of Mount Govardhan is believed to bless the devotee by increasing devotion.  Thus, devotees are more willing to serve Krishna.
